About

Residing in Columbia, SC, Scott was graduated from the University of Colorado – Boulder, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He completed a Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of South Carolina, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker – Clinical Practitioner (LISW-CP), and a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC-II). He provides clinical supervisor for both the LISW-CP licensure and CAC certification and has been employed as a Clinical Instructor with the University of South Carolina’s School of Medicine in the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science since 2010. He has accumulated 15+ years clinical experience in the mental health and addictions fields and is the founder of Carolina Behavioral Therapy, LLC.

Services

Individual Therapy (addictions & mood disorders)

Persons in recovery from substance use disorders, and other addictions, often find the therapeutic process helpful both during, and following the active (acute) phase of addiction. Scott’s approach to treating substance use disorders is both collaborative, and individualized. His approach draws heavily from training in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive, and Behavioral therapies.

In addition to individual therapy for addictions and mood disorders, Scott also provides supportive therapy for individuals experiencing a variety of life adjustment difficulties and situational difficulties.

Supervision

Scott is approved by the South Carolina Board of Social Work to provide clinical supervision to licensed social workers interested in pursuing clinical licensure. Please contact Scott for fees associated with supervision.

Consulting Services

Consultation services are available to friends and families, agencies, and organizations. Services include family consultations, workshops, lectures, and trainings. Scott has been a featured speaker at meetings and workshops, for organizations such as the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), the South Carolina Association of Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselors (SCAADAC), and Morehouse School of Medicine.
